Maybe you're the type who likes to know exactly what goes into what you feed your pet, and who wants to take the natural approach. Well, here's a couple of tail-wagging treat recipes just right for you and your furry friends. You mix them up and bake them, and watch how these treats become their favorite - paws down. Two new recipes are added each month, so be sure to check in!


Easy Dog CookiesBird Bread

Ingredients:

2 cups melted peanut butter or bacon grease or other fat
2 cups cornmeal or stale dry cereal, blended into crumbs
warm water
2-3 cups wild bird seed
raisins or nutmeats or chopped peanuts

Preparation:

Slowly melt peanut butter, grease or fat over low heat. Add cornmeal or stale cereal crumbs. Slowly add enough warm water to make a stiff dough. Add birdseed and raisins, nut meats or chopped peanuts. Pack mixture into small foil pans or a large flat pan. Refrigerate overnight. Cut into pieces for tying onto tree branches.

Bowser BrowniesYear of the Tiger Treat

Ingredients:

1 1/4 pounds chicken livers
2 cups wheat germ
2 tablespoons flour
1 cup cooked barley
2 eggs
3 tablespoons peanut butter
1 celery salt
1 tablespoon olive oil

Preparation:

Pre heat oven to 350. Liquefy liver and celery salt in a blender, when its smooth add eggs and peanut butter. Blend till smooth. In separate mixing bowl combine wheat germ, whole wheat flour, and cooked Barley. Add processed liver mixture, and olive oil. Mix well. spread mixture in a greased 9x9 baking dish. Bake for 20 minutes or untill done. When cool cut into 2 inch squares Store in refrigerator or freezer.
